CHRISTIAN MODESTY IN DRESS

As summer approaches our thoughts are turned to the lamentable situation regarding Christian modesty in our modern world and unfortunately in our own Churches! The lack of modesty in dress in both women and men. The following translation of a posting from Cordialiter blog can also be said of men's fashion as well. I post also for your edification on the same subject the video of a sermon delivered a few years ago on EWTN:

Women's fashion ...

I quote some passages of the late exorcist Don Vincenzo Cuomo (above),
against indecency in fashion that is now rampant even in holy places. Unfortunately,
today it is rare to hear someone denounce such shameless fashion. We feel the
great lackof zealous priests like Fr Joseph Tomaselli, Don Dolindo Ruotolo
and Don Vincenzo Cuomo.

Taking a look to the summer season now over, we must recognize that,
unfortunately, nothing has improved with regard to women's fashion
that becomes more and more indecent. Nudism, by now, has also crossed
the doors of our churches!

There is an argument which is taboo: women's fashion. Who says anything about it?
Is everything okay? And if anything goes wrong, who is to enlighten, correct,
admonish? Nudism, alas, is becoming more brazen and pushy, fueled by shows,
newspapers, billboards by the road ... [...] In our day we are witnessing the globalization
dell'immodestia, because it is rooted in the belief that if the woman is not
provocative, she is not a woman. It began, then, with the shortening of the sleeves,
then the sleeves disappeared ... It is upper body is increasingly denuded
At the same time we moved to the miniskirt, which becomes more and more ... mini!
And why not also denude the belly and navel? And then shorts
and ultra short and tight fitting clothing. The audacity, now no longer knows any limits
even in sacred places: churches and shrines. [...] And what about when they go
to the lectern in some churches or serve as extraordinary ministers of communion
with women's clothing which is certainly not exemplary? It may be that these words
make some smile, because they will say "times have changed and it no longer
makes any impression."  This statement is as false as it is foolish.  Does this mean
Then there is no more lust of the eyes and of the flesh? And does no one pay any heed
as it is written in the letters of the Apostles about women's clothing? The reality is
they no longer feel shame for sins of impurity.  Things do not happen by chance.
There is a whole strategy of diabolical malice aimed at de-Christianization of
the masses, this is no longer with the rifle and prisons, but demolishing the
Christian principles. [...] In front of this steamroller that knows no barriers,
a strong and authoritative voice is heard! At Fatima, Our Lady, to Jacinta,
foretold the advent of a shameless fashion, due to the loss of many souls.
May we ask the most pure Virgin, with her powerful intercession, for the return
to a pure and chaste life, at least among the Christian women.
